On August 18, San Antonio-based Vantage Bank announced the appointment of Layne E. Nunes as executive vice president/chief treasury and network banking officer. He will oversee the new treasury and network banking division and provide strategic leadership for treasury management, treasury operations, network banking and related customer-focused services. He brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial banking, treasury management, sales leadership and portfolio growth to the role.
Nunes joins Vantage Bank from a large regional bank in Dallas, where he served as treasury management director and executive vice president. There, he led the treasury management and specialty deposits divisions, working closely with commercial, commercial specialty and retail banking teams. Under his leadership over the past six years, the division grew its portfolio to more than $22 million in non-interest income, with a compounded growth rate exceeding 18 percent, on a deposit book totaling several billion dollars. He also served on the bank’s executive management, ALCO, and IT steering committees, contributed to its AI working group and helped guide deposit strategy and rate management.
Over his career, Nunes has worked at large national financial institutions, regional and community banks, serving corporate, commercial, energy and commercial real estate clients. He has built partnerships that delivered measurable savings for organizations ranging from the middle-market to the largest enterprises.
Nunes holds a BA degree in speech and history from Houston Baptist University and is completing an MBA degree at Dallas Baptist University.
“His track record in treasury management speaks for itself, and his talent for helping clients manage capital smarter fits perfectly with how we serve businesses,” says Jeff Sinnott, CEO.
Established in 1923, Vantage Bank has 23 locations across Texas.
