El Paso-based WestStar has named Marcela Candia vice president/director of accounting. In her role, she oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, regulatory compliance and internal controls and works with senior leadership to support the bank’s financial objectives.
Candia joined WestStar in 2022 and has more than 20 years of accounting experience across multiple industries. During her tenure with the bank, she has helped strengthen accounting processes, advance financial reporting initiatives and support regulatory requirements.
Candia earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Texas–El Paso. She is a certified public accountant licensed in Texas. Candia also serves on the finance committee and board of directors for the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest.
Established in 1990, WestStar operates 14 branches in the Borderplex region, which includes El Paso, Texas; Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Juárez, Mexico.
