Harlingen-based Texas Regional Bank has appointed Trey Willerson, CFA, president of TRB Trust & Wealth Management. He will continue to serve as chief investment officer, leading Texas Regional Bank’s Houston-headquartered trust and wealth division, which manages more than $4 billion in assets and serves clients throughout Texas.
Willerson joined Texas Regional Bank in 2024 as chief investment officer and has helped shape the investment philosophy and portfolio discipline that guide the division today. His expanded role preserves continuity in investment leadership while extending his responsibility across the division.
“TRB Trust & Wealth was formed over a decade ago with the mission of doing the right thing for clients in the Rio Grande Valley and has grown into a high-quality statewide team that I feel fortunate to serve,” Willerson says.
Willerson holds undergraduate degrees from Southern Methodist University, an MBA degree from the University of Texas–Austin and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Willerson is supported by a senior executive team that includes John Tippit, president of divisions, and Bobby Farris, chairman of trust and wealth management—both based in Harlingen—and Brian Cafferky, the division’s Houston-based chief operating and compliance officer. Cafferky joined the bank in 2024 with more than two decades of experience in financial services operations, most recently serving as chief operating officer for Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland, and oversees the division’s operations team and compliance program.
TRB Trust & Wealth Management is a boutique fiduciary division of Texas Regional Bank, providing investment management, estate and trust administration, financial planning, and family office services to help individuals, families and institutions manage, protect and transfer wealth across generations.
