Wellington-based Wellington State Bank has appointed Joel Enriquez as president of its Canyon branch. He brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving local families, businesses and organizations.

Enriquez began his banking career with First National Bank of Paducah in 2015 as a credit analyst, which later merged with Wellington State Bank in 2019. He assisted with the transition and helped transform the Canyon office into a fully functioning bank branch. He has served as an officer of that branch since the merger. Enriquez also helped the branch launch a financial literacy program with Reeve-Hinger Elementary in 2022 and continues to implement the program annually.

“Canyon is a special community filled with hardworking families, businesses and leaders who care deeply about one another,” Enriquez says. “I’m honored by the opportunity to reconnect with customers, support local growth, and work alongside a team that shares my commitment to community banking.”

Enriquez currently serves as board chairman of the Canyon Chamber of Commerce and chairs the City of Canyon planning and zoning commission. He is a member of the Canyon Lions Club and has served as committee chairman for various projects, most notably for the Kylie Hiner Memorial Playground. He spearheaded fundraising efforts and was granted a $100,000 matching grant for a total contribution of more than $205,000 toward the adaptive playground.

Enriquez’s professional accomplishments have earned statewide and national recognition. In 2023, he received the prestigious Texas Bankers Association “Emerging Leader Award” and was named among the Independent Community Bankers of America’s “Top 40 Under 40” honors, which recognize exceptional leadership and contributions to the banking industry. In 2021, Enriquez was awarded the “Canyon Man of the Year” by the Canyon Chamber of Commerce.
