Sunflower Bank Welcomes Gaines as Regional President for Houston, Austin and San Antonio

Andy GainesDallas-based Sunflower Bank has announced that Andy Gaines has joined the bank as regional president for Houston, Austin and San Antonio. He is based at the bank’s Houston corporate office.

Gaines brings more than 15 years of experience in commercial and corporate banking with a successful track record of building high-performing middle-market banking teams across the Texas Gulf Coast region. Most recently, he served as regional executive of middle-market banking at a Houston-based regional community bank. Gaines holds a BS degree from Texas Christian University.

“Sunflower Bank is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growth opportunities in our Texas markets, and I am thrilled to be part of it,” Gaines says.

To further support Sunflower Bank’s growth plans in Houston, two additional recent hires include Christine Dobbins as commercial banking team lead and Malia Willis as commercial relationship manager. Both are experienced commercial banking professionals with deep knowledge of the Houston economy.

Sunflower Bank’s presence in Houston, Austin and San Antonio expanded following its 2022 merger with Pioneer Bank. The bank currently operates 22 locations in Texas. Sunflower Bank says it plans to expand it commercial banking teams in Houston, Austin and San Antonio throughout 2026.

Established in 1892, Sunflower Bank NA operates 71 branches in seven states and mortgage capabilities in 43 states. FirstSun Capital Bancorp, the financial holding company for Sunflower Bank, is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
