Two associates at Jacksonville-based Austin Bank received promotions in July and the bank announced a new hire.
Sandy McCafferty has been hired as senior vice president and retail market manager. She joins Austin Bank after serving 20 years with Capital Bank in Houston, where she was senior vice president/regional banking center manager. Prior to that position, she served in Capital Bank’s Safewest banking region as vice president/banking center manager for 15 years. With 44 years of operational experience in community banking, she will now serve as retail market manager for the Piney Woods region—which includes the Garrison, Lufkin, Nacogdoches and Timpson offices—and will work from the office in Lufkin. During her professional career, McCafferty has served in multiple organizations, including as president of the Deer Park Rotary, board member for the Deer Park Opportunity Center, volunteer with Junior Achievement Deer Park, director for the La Porte Chamber of Commerce, Education Foundation board member for Habitat for Humanity Special Olympics Deer Park and committee member for the 125th-anniversary celebration of the City of Deer Park. McCafferty completed banking courses at San Jacinto College and is a graduate of the Deer Park Leadership class.
Shaunna Nolen was promoted to senior executive vice president. Currently serving as the bank’s education and training officer, she has 27 years of experience, all with Austin Bank. She launched her career in 1997 at First State Bank in Frankston, which Austin Bank acquired in 2010. Throughout her tenure, Nolen has served in many roles, including teller, bookkeeper, credit department assistant and loan assistant. She served for many years as an administrative assistant for Russ Gideon during his tenure as president at First State Bank. She was named assistant vice president in 2010, moved to her current role overseeing training in 2014 and was elected vice president in 2016. Nolen is a graduate of the bank’s Leadership Development course and the Jacksonville Chamber’s Leadership Institute Program, and has completed numerous bank training courses. She received her Certified Professional in Training Management credentials in 2024.
Julisa Trujillo has been named vice president. She joined Austin Bank in 2017 as a payroll specialist, bringing with her five years of previous experience in human resources. She was promoted to junior recruiter in 2018 and operations officer in 2020, and was elected assistant vice president and recruiter in 2023. She is currently responsible for recruiting talent for the bank and serves as the chair for the culture committee. She has completed the Jacksonville Chamber’s Leadership Institute Program, as well as the bank’s Leadership Program.
