SouthStar Bank Welcomes Shaffer as Vice Pressident and Business Development Officer

February 13, 2025

Barbara ShafferMoulton-based SouthStar Bank SSB has hired Barbara Shaffer to serve as vice president/business development officer in Leander.

With more than 40 years of banking experience, Shaffer joins SouthStar Bank having previously worked in a similar position at R Bank in Round Rock since 2013. Prior to that, she was vice president/Frost at Work specialist at Frost Bank. Earlier in her career, Shaffer worked at JPMorgan Chase and she started her career at First Texas Bank in Cedar Park as vice president/branch manager.

Shaffer studied banking at Austin Community College. She is the 2025 chair of the William County Children’s Advocacy Center board of directors and serves on the boards of the City of Cedar Park Community Development Corp. and Twin Lakes Family YMCA. She previously sat on the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce board and the City of Cedar Park Parks, Arts and Community Enrichment advisory board. Shaffer was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Twin Lakes Family YMCA in 2017.

Established in 1920, SouthStar Bank has 17 banking offices in central and east Texas.
