McCauley Named a Hero and Legend of Texas Community Banking

December 16, 2021

Cliff McCauleyThe Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) announced that George “Cliff” McCauley, executive vice president/correspondent banking at San Antonio-based Frost Bank, is the newest addition to the IBAT Wall of Heroes and Legends of Texas Community Banking located at the organization’s headquarters in downtown Austin. The Wall of Heroes and Legends is reserved for special individuals who have greatly contributed to the strength of community banking in Texas. McCauley was bestowed the honor in early December during a gathering of the boards of directors for the IBAT Education Foundation and IBAT Services Inc.

In addition to his 40 years of service with Frost Bank, McCauley’s devotion to the community banking industry has spanned many organizations. He has served at the highest levels of IBAT, including as chairman (2009–10). He remains an active member on the board of directors of the IBAT Education Foundation. In addition to his service in Texas, he has served as a member of the Federal Delegate Board, Large Bank Council for the Independent Community Bankers of America and Consumer Bankers Association Government Relations Council. He currently serves as a member of the Texas Finance Commission. McCauley received a BS degree in animal science and a Master of Agriculture degree in agriculture economics from Texas A&M University.

“Cliff is a trusted mentor and gentleman who unselfishly shares his time, knowledge and passion for our industry with others—all with a true servant’s heart,” said Darla Rooke, president of Junction National Bank, in comments gathered before the presentation.
