The board of directors of Waco-based Community Bank & Trust announced that Benjamin “Ben” C. Lacy has been named president of the bank, effective immediately. David Lacy will remain chairman and CEO.
As president, Ben Lacy will assume increased administrative and leadership responsibilities while continuing to serve as senior commercial lending officer. In his expanded role, he will become increasingly involved in the bank’s operations and strategic direction while continuing to serve the commercial lending relationships he has developed throughout his career.
“Ben understands what makes Community Bank & Trust special, and I have confidence in his ability to help lead this bank into the future,” says David Lacy. “As we approach our 75th anniversary, I know he will carry forward the values and culture that have served our customers, employees and community so well, while also embracing the changes necessary to keep our bank strong for years to come.”
Ben joined Community Bank & Trust in 2007 as vice president in lending. He was promoted to senior vice president in commercial lending in 2017 and was elected to the bank’s board of directors in 2021. Before joining Community Bank & Trust, Lacy practiced law with Sheehy, Lovelace & Mayfield in Waco.
Ben earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University. He is actively involved in the Waco community and currently serves on the boards of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Waco Industrial Foundation and Waco Family Medicine Foundation.
“The bank has a 75-year history of putting relationships first, and I am honored to have the opportunity to take on this role,” Ben Lacy says.
David Lacy has served as a leader of Community Bank & Trust for more than three decades. He joined the bank in 1990 as senior vice president and a member of the board of directors. He later served as executive vice president of lending before being elected president and CEO in 1999. He was inducted into the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame in 2020.
Established in 1952, Community Bank & Trust operates four Waco banking offices.
