Wren Retires from SouthStar Bank After Four Decades in Banking

September 29, 2022

Curtis WrenCurtis Wren, executive vice president and chief credit officer at Moulton-based SouthStar Bank, retired recently after serving for four decades in banking and finance. His retirement was announced by David Kapavik, president and CEO.

Wren has been with SouthStar Bank since 2014, overseeing the credit administration group, as well as the administration and maintenance of the bank’s lending, appraisal and evaluation, and environmental policies. In 2021, he was awarded the bank’s President’s Award, which is given to the individual who has made the organization’s strongest contribution over the past year. Earlier this year, he was promoted to executive vice president and has continued to share his extensive knowledge and experience with loan officers and credit analysts.

“Throughout his tenure, Curtis has been instrumental in guiding our asset quality, bringing us to the highest possible rating,” the bank notes.

Wren earned his BBA degree with honors in finance from the University of Texas–Austin. A proud member of the Georgetown community, he is involved with several local organizations, including First United Methodist Church of Georgetown, Ducks Unlimited and the Coastal Conservation Association. He has also held leadership positions with the Georgetown Rotary Club, where he served as director and sargent-at-arms.

In retirement, Wren says he is looking forward to continuing renovations to his 1890s home and yard, and spending additional time with his family.

Established in 1920, SouthStar Bank operates 16 banking offices in central and east Texas.
