Dallas-based PlainsCapital Bank has hired Reid Wendell to serve as senior vice president/senior relationship manager. Based at the bank’s Kirby location in Houston, he brings 15 years of commercial banking experience to his new role. Wendell oversees a portfolio of commercial clients, builds new banking relationships and leads analysts who support portfolio management.
Wendell previously held senior commercial banking roles at Texas Gulf Bank and Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc., for which he managed middle‑market portfolios, guided lending teams and worked closely with business owners on a wide range of financing needs, including real estate, aircraft, working capital and equipment purchases.
Wendell holds a BBA degree in finance and banking/financial institutions from Sam Houston State University and is a graduate of the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. He is currently a member of the South Texas Business Aviation Association and serves as the assistant vice president of Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 572. His prior community involvement includes serving as chairman of the Pearland Economic Development Corp., director of the Pearland Prosperity Implementation Committee, committee member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and as a mentor with the Pearland ISD RISE Program.
