Triplett Named First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas

October 26, 2021

Robert TriplettOn October 20, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas announced the appointment of Robert L. Triplett III as first vice president and chief operating officer. His appointment was made by the Dallas Fed board of directors and approved by the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System following a search led by a committee of the bank’s class B and C directors. He will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of the Dallas Fed, including its branches in Houston, San Antonio and El Paso. He will also participate in Federal Reserve System initiatives.

Triplett joined the Federal Reserve in 1995. Throughout his career, he has managed several areas, directed large, complex system projects and served on various committees within the Federal Reserve System. Prior to his promotion, Triplett served as senior vice president, responsible for banking supervision and credit, risk and reserves management. He holds a BBA degree from Oklahoma State University and an MBA degree from Southern Methodist University.

Triplett succeeds Meredith Black, who has been named interim president and will retire when a new bank president is appointed. Black has served as the Dallas Fed’s first vice president since 2016 and has worked for the bank for 38 years in a variety of roles.

“After an extensive and thorough search that started in June, both inside and outside the Federal Reserve System, Robert Triplett stood out as the most qualified candidate to serve as first vice president,” says Greg L. Armstrong, chair, and Thomas J. Falk, deputy chair, in a joint statement on behalf of the Dallas Fed board. “We congratulate Robert on his well-earned and deserved appointment. Moreover, we are very grateful to Meredith Black for graciously agreeing to delay her planned retirement to serve as interim president while we execute our search for the next president of the Dallas Fed.”
