On June 9, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced appointments and reappointments of four individuals to the Finance Commission of Texas, among them a Texas community banker. The commission is the governing body of the state’s banking, savings and loan, and consumer credit agencies.
William “Chip” Jenkins, one of those newly appointed to the commission, is president and CEO of Louise-based The First State Bank. He is a board member for the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and previously served as chairman of the Texas Bankers Association. Additionally, he is a member of the board for Tsika Ministries Inc. Jenkins received a BA degree in international studies from SMU and a graduate degree in banking from the SW Graduate School of Banking at SMU Cox.
Also newly appointed to the commission is Bradford “Luke” Ledbetter, CEO of the Kestrel Group in Austin. Those reappointed by the governor are Sharon McCormick, senior loan officer for PrimeLending in Dallas, and Laura Nassri Warren, founder and principal owner of The Warren Group Architects Inc. in McAllen.
The four individuals appointed or reappointed in June are slated to serve on the commission for a term that ends February 1, 2032.
