Denver, Colorado-based Sunflower Bank has tapped two seasoned Texas bankers to serve as market presidents for the bank’s Houston and Austin regions. Texas is a primary market for Sunflower Bank and its assets in the state have increased to more than $2.5 billion in the past two years.
John Stacy has joined the bank as Houston regional market president. He is responsible for the strategy, management and growth of the bank in the greater Houston area across the commercial and personal banking, wealth management and mortgage lines of business.
Stacy has more than 37 years of experience in financial services. Previous roles include regional and corporate banking leadership positions with a focus on growing client relationships across multiple industries and geographies. He is active in the Houston business community, serving on advisory committees for multiple economic development organizations.
“[Stacy] is the right person to lead Sunflower Bank’s growth initiatives throughout the greater Houston area. His passion for people and over three decades of experience make him a natural fit for the role,” says Neal Arnold, president and CEO. “John’s success in building out teams and developing relationships with the Houston business community go hand in hand with Sunflower Bank’s vision for Houston’s growth.”
Sunflower Bank’s presence in greater Houston grew due to its April 2022 merger with Pioneer Bank. Today, the bank has eight locations in the area and provides complete commercial banking, personal banking and wealth management services, as well as home loans through Guardian Mortgage, Sunflower Bank’s national mortgage division.
Donna Day has been named Sunflower Bank’s Central Texas regional market president based in Austin. She is responsible for the strategy, management and growth of the bank in Central Texas across the commercial and personal banking, wealth management and mortgage lines of business. Sunflower Bank has four locations in the Central Texas region.
“Donna Day has been instrumental in growing Sunflower Bank’s commercial services in the Austin area since our merger with Pioneer Bank in 2022,” Arnold notes. “Her knowledge of the market, passion for teamwork and extensive banking background complement our vision for growth in Central Texas.”
Day has been in commercial banking in Austin for more than 30 years and has held progressively responsible positions at community, regional and national banks serving clients large and small across a wide variety of industries. Most recently, she served as Sunflower Bank’s Austin market president, continuing her leadership role from Pioneer Bank, which she had joined in 2018. Day is actively involved in a variety of community and professional organizations. She serves on the board of the Texas Bankers Association. In July, she was nominated for the Austin Business Journal’s “2023 Women in Business” Awards.
Established in 1892, Sunflower Bank serves customers in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico and Texas.
