On August 11, Moulton-based SouthStar Bank SSB announced the hiring of two new lenders.
Jason Herbert joins the bank’s Leander branch as a vice president of lending and branch executive. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry with a focus on residential lending. One of Herbert’s crowning achievements across his career is the more than 600 families and 75-plus active and retired military families he has assisted in their goals of homeownership. Prior to joining SouthStar Bank, he served as a mortgage loan officer at CMG in Austin and prior to that as sales manager at loanDepot in Lakeway. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in biology/biological sciences from California State University.
Ivan Garcia has joined the SouthStar Bank team as a vice president of lending and community manager, bringing with him 14 years of mortgage experience. He will focus on expanding the bank’s presence along the IH-35 corridor. Prior to joining SouthStar Bank, Garcia was a senior home lending advisor at JPMorgan Chase & Co. He is heavily involved with the Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. He was named a “NAHREP Top 100 Regional Loan Officer” in 2021. Garcia is also involved as a foster dad for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
