On February 5, Terrell-based American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX) announced the promotion of Chris Cronin to president. Cronin, who has been with ANBTX for more than 37 years, most recently served as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. Robert Hulsey will continue to lead the bank and serve as chief executive officer in a more strategic capacity. In his new role as president, Cronin will oversee day-to-day operations with responsibility for all banking functions and mortgage, as well as certain corporate functions.
“Continuity of leadership has always been a cornerstone of our success,” Hulsey notes. “Having worked alongside Chris for almost 40 years now, I can say without hesitation that his deep understanding of our bank, our culture and the North Texas market makes him the ideal leader to guide us through this exciting next chapter of continued success and growth.”
Cronin earned a bachelor’s degree in business from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University–Commerce). He is also a graduate of the SW Graduate School of Banking at SMU Cox, the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the Cannon Institute of Real Estate Lending.
Cronin is active in his community, as well as those served by the bank. He has served on numerous city- and school-appointed boards and commissions, including as chairman of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and as a past director of the McKinney, Rockwall and Forney Chambers of Commerce and the Heard Natural Science Museum. His civic leadership also includes serving as chairman of the long-range facilities planning committee for the McKinney Independent School District and chairman of the successful “Vote Yes” campaign, which helped pass a $197 million bond proposal for the McKinney ISD. He also served on the McKinney ISD strategic planning committee and as a member of the Collin County Planning Board, the McKinney Alliance and Baylor Hospital in McKinney.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of president and continue building on the rich history that Robert and ANBTX have established across North Texas,” Cronin says. “Community banks and their support for local businesses, families and communities have played a vital role in our region’s prosperity over the years. While the North Texas financial landscape continues to change, ANBTX’s commitment to local, relationship-driven decision-making and the long-term success of the communities we serve remains unchanged, grounded in a 150-year legacy of community banking.”
Established in 1875, American National Bank of Texas has 30 locations throughout North Texas, serving Collin, Dallas, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall, Tarrant and Van Zandt counties.
