Brownwood-based TexasBank recently announced the appointment of Wayne Garrett, founder and CEO of BentOak Capital, and Mark Denton, former managing director of JPMorgan Chase’s Private Bank, to its board of directors. Garrett is also a founding partner of Snow Garrett Williams CPAs.
Garrett has received numerous awards and recognition for his professional service. He is regularly featured in Texas Monthly magazine as a “Five Star Wealth Manager” and his firm is lauded in Forbes magazine as “Best-in-State Wealth Advisors.” He has been recognized numerous times as a top advisor with LPL Financial, as well as the Executive Council, an elite group of the top 0.5 percent of LPL Financial’s 21,000 advisors.
Garrett has also received several honors locally, including being named “Weatherford Citizen of the Year” and “Weatherford College Alumnus of the Year.” Some of his past civic responsibilities include serving on the Weatherford City Council and Weatherford Utility Board, as well as serving as chairman of the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and president of the Weatherford Noon Lions Club. Garrett has served numerous years with the Parker County Economic Development Council and was a founding member of the Weatherford Education Foundation. In 2022, he was named the “Outstanding Alumnae of Weatherford ISD.”
Garrett is a graduate of Weatherford College and Texas Wesleyan University. A lifelong student, he recently completed his MS degree in financial services from American College in 2019. He has been a longtime member of North Side Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, chairman of deacons, church trustee and Sunday school teacher. Most recently, he obtained the Certified Kingdom Advisor certification allowing him to advise investment planning and research on Christian and Biblical principles.

Denton retired as managing director of JPMorgan Chase’s Private Bank in Fort Worth in 2020. With more than 40 years of private and corporate banking experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the TexasBank board. He joined JPMorgan Chase in 1988 following nine years at First National Bank in Dallas.
Denton earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas Tech University in 1979. During his career, he has served on numerous nonprofit boards, most recently as president of the Lean Pope board. He is also an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church where he and his wife, Sherry, are very active.
