Nunn Appointed President of Citizens Bank in Amarillo

Sam NunnSam Nunn, a third-generation banker, has been promoted to president/chief financial officer at Amarillo-based Citizens Bank. Nunn, who has more than 12 years of community banking experience, joined Citizens Bank in 2011 as a senior vice president and most recently served as executive vice president/chief financial officer. Prior to that, he was a correspondent banker at TIB–The Independent BankersBank.

Nunn serves on the board of directors for the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) and on the IBAT Leadership Division board. He also represents Texas as a federal delegate for the Independent Community Bankers of America. In addition to his banking industry leadership roles, Nunn is active in his community. He is currently board treasurer for Safari Club International’s Texas Panhandle chapter, a deacon at Olsen Park Church of Christ and is involved with the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. He also spent five years on the board and executive committee of Martha’s Home, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless and abused women and children in the Amarillo area.

Nunn earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in accounting and finance from the College of Business at West Texas A&M University. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado.

Established in 1904, Citizens Bank operates branches in Amarillo, Claude and Tulia, as well as Tucumcari, New Mexico.
