Moody Bank Welcomes Two New Members to its Board of Directors

April 26, 2024

On April 18, Galveston-based Moody Bank announced two appointments to its board of directors.

Dennis ByrdAs the president of Island Famous Inc., Dennis Byrd oversees the operations of a thriving hospitality company with its roots tracing back to The Spot. Under his leadership, Island Famous has established a notable presence in Galveston, League City and Houston, offering unique dining, entertainment and lodging experiences. He has also played pivotal roles in industry organizations, including serving as president of the Galveston County Restaurant Association and on the boards of the Texas Restaurant Association and Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Byrd has an advisory role at Next Level Capital Group.

EJ PedersonEJ Pederson, a native of Los Fresnos, is a seasoned professional with a distinguished career in finance and administration. He began his career as a budget analyst with the Texas Legislative Budget Board before dedicating 27 years of service to the University of Texas System. During his tenure, Pederson held key leadership positions, including vice president for business affairs at the University of Texas in Dallas and San Antonio, and executive vice president and COO of the University of Texas medical branch in Galveston. He also has extensive experience in financial management and strategic planning, and has held previous board roles at University National Bank of Galveston and U.S. National Bank of Galveston. Pederson’s decade-long service on the Texas Tomorrow Fund, for which he chaired the finance committee, further highlights his commitment to financial stewardship and governance.
