Round Rock-based R Bank has hired Charles McElrath to serve as senior vice president, community development director and commercial lender. His primary focus will be on promoting the bank’s small-business lending products and programs while also facilitating community development initiatives.
Prior to joining R Bank, McElrath was vice president and regional director for commercial lending and business development at Liberty Bank & Trust Co. in Dallas. During his career in financial services, which spans more than 20 years, he has also served in the Dallas area as vice president/commercial lending at Midwest Regional Bank, president and CEO of the Southern Dallas Development Corp. and business financial advisor for Merrill Lynch in Dallas. Through his roles in banking and community development, McElrath has been committed to fostering economic revitalization and champions for businesses and individuals in underserved market areas.
McElrath earned his BA degree in economics from Carleton College in Minnesota and an MBA degree in business and finance from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio.
