McDowell Joins FirstBank & Trust as Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing

March 1, 2022

Kathy McDowellGreg Garland, president and CEO of Lubbock-based FirstBank & Trust, announced the recent hiring of Kathy McDowell as senior vice president and director of marketing. McDowell will office at the Centre location at 9816 Slide Road in Lubbock and oversee bank-wide marketing efforts.

“Kathy’s experience and skillset are the perfect fit for the bank,” Garland says. “We know that she will bring efficiency, innovation and creativity to the marketing department at FB&T.”

McDowell earned her BA degree in public relations from Texas Tech University. Since 2006, she has worked in marketing, primarily in the financial sector, amassing a wide range of knowledge specific to bank and mortgage marketing. In 2019, McDowell earned the professional distinction of Certified Financial Marketing Professional issued by the American Bankers Association. CFMP applicants must meet several stringent requirements and pass a final exam that demonstrates mastery of data and analytics, leadership, strategy, revenue generation and more.

“It is a privilege to be part of this institution,” McDowell says. “FirstBank & Trust is a staple in the Lubbock community and across West Texas. I am thrilled about my new role and look forward to being a part of what will surely be an exciting future for the bank.”

Established in 1996, First Bank & Trust, a subsidiary of Heartland Financial USA Inc., operates 22 locations serving 17 communities in West Texas and the Panhandle.
