On March 2, Laredo-based IBC Bank announced the promotion of Ernesto Valdez, commercial portfolio manager, to bank officer. As a bank officer in the commercial lending department, he will be responsible for maintaining a client loan portfolio of more than 300 accounts, as well as obtaining new loans. He will also be one of the staff in charge of the bank’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
As a commercial portfolio manager, Valdez provided support to the bank’s commercial loan officers. He was also the primary contact for the team’s small-business loans. Before his career with IBC Bank, Valdez served as an accountant for various real estate investment companies and currently supports the operation of a tax and accounting service company with his wife.
Valdez received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in professional accountancy from Texas A&M International University. Before the pandemic, he was heavily involved in the Laredo Chamber of Commerce as an active member of the small-business committee.
“The bank has played a significant role in the PPP loan process for our customers and community during this difficult time,” says Dennis E. Nixon, chairman and CEO. “Ernesto has shown great leadership in his ability to process these loans quickly and accurately for our customers.”
“I am proud of the determination and work ethic our team has demonstrated through this past year during the COVID-19 pandemic, and am honored to lead our continued efforts in 2021,” Valdez says.
Established in 1966, IBC Bank is a member of International Bancshares Corp., a $13.6 billion multi-bank financial holding company with 187 facilities serving 88 communities in Texas and Oklahoma.
