Galveston-based HomeTown Bank has named Liz Birch senior vice president and has promoted Maria Barrera to assistant vice president.
Birch serves as new accounts manager at HomeTown Bank. She joined the team as a new accounts representative in Galveston in 2014. Recipient of the bank’s 2016 Employee of the Year award, Birch was promoted to assistant vice president in 2019, vice president in 2020 and new accounts manager this past January. Actively involved in the bank’s annual United Way campaign, she has chaired the campaign for the past four years. Her office will remain at HomeTown Bank’s headquarters in Galveston.
“Liz is an exceptional person who has earned the respect of customers and coworkers alike,” says Kyle McFatridge, executive vice president. “Over the past eight years, she has grown in banking skills, responsibilities and commitment to the community we all serve.”
Barrera serves as e-banking manager. She began her HomeTown Bank career as a teller in 2014 and received the 2019 Employee of the Year award. She joined the e-banking staff in 2015 and was named assistant supervisor of the department in 2020. Barrera was named department manager in January of this year prior to being promoted to assistant vice president in May. Her office is located at the Galveston main bank.
“I am grateful to have such great leadership, which has allowed me to learn, expand my abilities and grow within the bank,” Barrera says. “I like being able to assist our customers with their banking needs, and I enjoy all of my co-workers. I truly love working for a community bank like HomeTown Bank.”
“It has been a pleasure to work with Maria over the past eight years,” says Gayle Culling, senior vice president. “She has exceeded our expectations in every way, and I know she will continue to do so in her new role.”
