Tammy Goertz, senior vice president, branch manager and deposit operations manager at First National Bank of Bastrop, has announced her retirement effective April 12. With more than 38 years of service at First National Bank of Bastrop, she is one of the longest-tenured employees in the bank’s history.

Goertz began her banking career in 1979 as a teller at Citizens State Bank. In 1983, she joined First National Bank as a drive-in teller at the bank’s Spring St. location. She was promoted to supervisor at the downtown location and then named the first branch manager at the Highway 71 branch. In 2005, Goertz was instrumental in the design and opening of the Cedar Creek branch, followed by the Main St. Bastrop location in 2006, the Highway 71 remodel in 2021 and the new downtown Bastrop project, which is opening soon. She has been involved in many special projects for the bank, including Save for America, debit cards and core conversion.

“Tammy’s dedication will be greatly missed, and the bank wishes her all the best as she embarks on the next chapter in her life,” the bank wrote in a statement.

Established in 1889, First National Bank of Bastrop operates six full-service branches throughout Bastrop County.
