Doug Foster, board director/chairman of the audit committee at Moulton-based SouthStar Bank SSB and director of affairs at Polunsky Beitel Green LLP, was recently elected chairman of the advisory board of the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University (TRERC), effective January 1, 2024. He was originally appointed to the TRERC in 2021 to a six-year term by Governor Greg Abbott. He filled the position of the real estate finance member on the TRERC board.
TRERC is the nation’s largest publicly funded organization devoted to real estate research. Funded by Texas real estate license fees, the agency was created by the state legislature in 1971 to meet the needs of the real estate industry, instructors, researchers, legislators and the public.
Foster previously served as commissioner of the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending for 31 years and was executive director of the Finance Commission of Texas from 2011 to 2014. He holds a BBA degree in banking and financial support services from the University of Texas–Austin and an associate of arts degree in business administration and management from Concordia University.
Established in 1920, SouthStar Bank operates 16 banking offices in Central Texas, the Texas Hill Country and Houston.
