Former Sanger & Altgelt Chair Haynes Elected to First State Bank of Uvalde Board of Directors

Joe HaynesFirst State Bank of Uvalde Chairman Chip Briscoe and President and CEO Chad D. Stary recently announced that Jones “Joe” Neville Haynes has been elected to the First State Bank of Uvalde board of directors. Haynes recently retired as managing partner, president, CEO and chairman of Sanger & Altgelt LLC, a premier insurance agency headquartered in San Antonio.

Haynes brings considerable banking and financial industry knowledge to his new board position. His experience in banking includes early employment at First National Bank in Midland and later serving on the national advisory bank board of Norwest. He has also held board and committee membership positions at several San Antonio banks, including Jefferson Bank, Valley High Bank and The Bank of San Antonio.

A native of Alpine, Haynes was reared on a working West Texas cattle ranch. His education began at the Texas Military Institute and he received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, majoring in economics and international finance. He completed his studies at the Insurance Institute of America, becoming an associate in risk management.

Haynes is a member of multiple service organizations across the state. He has served on the boards of the San Antonio Zoological Society, Game Conservation International, Ducks Unlimited, Cancer Therapy and Research Center, Texas Wildlife Association and Foundation, San Antonio Livestock Exposition, the University of Texas Health Science Center, Mission Road Development Center and the Texas Order of St. Hubertus.

Established in 1907, First State Bank of Uvalde operates eight banking offices in Central and West Texas.
