Comerica Bank’s Shy Appointed to Nonpartisan Conservation Group Texan by Nature

October 4, 2023

Jayme ShyTexan by Nature, a Texan-led conservation nonprofit organization founded by former Texas First Lady Laura Bush, has appointed Jayme Shy, senior vice president and associate general counsel/regulatory affairs at Dallas-based Comerica Bank, to its board of directors. Texan by Nature connects hundreds of conservation partners to catalyze conservation investment and activity across Texas.

With a distinguished 15-year career in financial regulatory law, Shy brings a wealth of experience to her new role. In her current role at Comerica Bank, she manages its office of regulatory relations and oversees regulatory engagements and interactions. In addition, she is a member of the bank’s environmental and social governance (ESG) committee and provides support to its Corporate Sustainability Program. Shy also serves as chair of the Texas Market Green Team, a Comerica Bank employee resource group focusing on sustainability awareness and implementing sustainable workplace solutions.

“Jayme brings vast experience in financial regulatory law and ESG matters,” says Joni Carswell, president and CEO of Texan by Nature. “We believe her expertise and proven leadership will be an invaluable asset as we navigate Texan by Nature’s future course across the state and beyond.”

Texan by Nature unites conservation and business leaders who believe Texas’ prosperity is dependent on the conservation of its natural resources. The nonprofit acts as an accelerator for conservation groups and a strategic partner for business. Texan by Nature supports more than 140 conservation organizations and has accelerated projects and programs that have impacted more than 7 million people, 20 million acres and all of Texas’ 254 counties.

“Texan by Nature’s mission to bring together business and conservation is crucial to the continued prosperity of the state and the world and complements Comerica’s ongoing commitment to ESG and banking responsibility,” Shy says.

Established in 1849 in Detroit, Michigan, Comerica Bank has more than 400 banking centers across the country with locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan and Texas.
