Citizens State Bank Names Brooks Executive Vice President and Director of Information Technology

February 2, 2024

Greg BrooksWoodville-based Citizens State Bank recently announced that it has hired Greg Brooks to serve as executive vice president and director of information technology. He has served most of his career in bank information technology and operations, with a brief detour to own a health and supplement store.

Brooks served as director of information technology for Conroe-based Spirit of Texas Bank from 2009 through 2022. The bank and its technological infrastructure and footprint grew from two locations to 40 prior to merging with Arkansas-based Simmons Bank in 2022. He then spent the next 18 months as a virtual chief information officer for Meriplex, a managed IT and cybersecurity firm based in Houston. While at Meriplex, Brooks worked with numerous banking clients.

“From the first second of the first day that I walked into the bank as a vendor—working to earn their trust and business—I knew this was a special group of people,” Brooks says of Citizens State Bank. “It doesn’t even feel correct to say that I work here, because in no way does this feel like a job. We’re on a journey together with great leadership and guidance, and we know where we are going.”

Established in 1919, Citizens State Bank operates branches in Woodville (2), Kingwood, Marlin and Warren.
