Corpus Christi-based American Bank has hired Marek Labedzki to serve as senior commercial lending officer the bank’s 3737 Buffalo Speedway location in Houston. Making the announcement was Charlie Phillips, Houston market president.
Labedzki has worked in senior leadership roles for several mid-sized and large banks, spending the past 15 years serving clients in the Houston area. Throughout his nearly 30 years of experience, he has held several vice president and senior vice president positions. He has worked for a variety of financial institutions, most recently at Amerant Bank and Veritex Community Bank, both in Houston. Earlier in his career, Labedzki was a personal banker and bank branch director.
“His exceptional leadership skills, deep commercial banking experience and client-first approach match well with the American Bank culture,” Phillips notes. “As we continue to grow in the Houston area, I’m excited to see how Marek blends his relationship-building skills with his focus on community engagement and community lending to best serve our clients.”
Labedzki holds a master’s degree in law from the Catholic University of Lublin (Poland), where he also studied American law in cooperation with the Chicago-Kent College of Law. He has studied at the University of Oslo (Norway) and was an international exchange student in Magee, Mississippi, during high school.
Established in 1970, American Bank has 19 locations in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Goliad, Port Aransas and Rockport.
