Tupelo, Mississippi-based BancorpSouth Bank, with 80 branches in Texas, announced numerous president-level promotions in September.
BancorpSouth Bank has promoted Teri Champlin to community bank president in Belton. She previously served as a senior vice president and relationship manager. Champlin has more than 20 years of prior banking experience, including a specialization in real estate lending.
“Since we hired Teri in 2019, she has done an exceptional job of managing and growing commercial banking relationships within the local markets,” says Randall Ramsey, president of the bank’s Heart of Texas division.
Champlin received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management from Sul Ross State University. Active in her community, she is a board member of the Fort Hood Area Habitat For Humanity, member of the Belton Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Belton and Memorial Baptist Church, and volunteer instructor for Helping Hands Ministry.
Nathan Raun has been named president in the Houston market. He will manage BancorpSouth Bank’s Sugar Land branch. He previously served as senior vice president and relationship manager in Sugar Land, with a focus on commercial banking. Raun has more than 19 years of commercial banking experience, including two years as a credit analyst and 17 as a commercial lender.
“With his commitment to customers and continuing education, I’m confident our strong growth in that market will continue,” says John Green, president of the Houston division.
Raun received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University. He is also completing his final year of study at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Active in his local community, Raun coaches Little League baseball in West Sugar Land and served as a softball coach in the Sugar Land Girls Softball Association.
Robert Jones has been promoted to president of the bank’s greater Temple market and Joel Berryman has been named community bank president in Temple. Jones will oversee the administration of four BancorpSouth locations in Temple and one in Belton. As a part of Jones’ team, Berryman will manage the West Adams branch. Jones previously served as community bank president in Temple. He has more than 34 years of banking experience. Berryman was a senior vice president and relationship manager in Temple with a focus on commercial lending. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry.

Jones received a BBA degree in management from Abilene Christian University and a master’s degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Berryman earned a BBA degree in marketing from Texas A&M University. Both are active in the community. Jones is a board member for the Temple Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Central Texas. He is a member and past president of the Temple Rotary Club. Berryman serves on the board of directors for the Temple Area Builders Association.
BancorpSouth Bank has promoted Randy Sutton to president of the greater Killeen area market. He will manage branches in Killeen, Harker Heights and Salado. With more than 40 years of banking experience, he most recently served as a community bank president for the company in Harker Heights.

Sutton earned a BBA degree in accounting from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He is president of the Killeen Economic Development Corp. and military affairs chair of the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Central Texas Fort Hood chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army.
Rachel Weinmann has been promoted to president of the bank’s Collin County market. She will manage the branch in Celina as well as two McKinney branches. With more than 14 years of banking experience, she previously served as community bank president in Celina.
“Rachel has shown extraordinary dedication to customers in Celina,” says Tom Wilds, president of the Dallas division. “In this new role, she will continue helping us lead the market in a positive direction.”
Weinmann has a BBA degree in finance and economics from Texas State University. She has also completed courses from the American Bankers Association Commercial Lending School and Risk Management Association. Weinmann is a member of the Celina Chamber of Commerce and the committee co-chair of a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Collin County.
BancorpSouth Bank has promoted Kirt Hearne to community bank president in Salado. With more than 24 years of banking experience, he previously served as senior vice president and relationship manager, with a focus on commercial lending and real estate.
“Kirt did an exceptional job of managing and growing commercial lending relationships,” Ramsey says. “That’s just one of the reasons we’re glad to have him leading our efforts in Salado.”
Hearne received a bachelor’s degree in economics and agribusiness management from Tarleton State University and has completed the Texas Banking Association School of Banking.
Barbara Hollingsworth has been promoted to BancorpSouth Bank’s community bank president for the Highway 95 corridor/East Austin area, including its Elgin, Granger and Bartlett offices. Hollingsworth has more than 35 years of experience working in the banking and finance industry and joined BancorpSouth in 2018.
“Her wealth of experience and expertise will continue to be a true asset to the bank,” says David Grove, president of the bank’s Austin division.
Hollingsworth was past chair of the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on its board of directors. She has also served on the Elgin Downtown Business Retention committee for more than 10 years. The committee’s work was instrumental in the city of Elgin receiving the Texas Downtown Association’s Economic Game Changer award in 2018.
