Austin Bank Hires Thornton as Assistant Vice President and Relationship Manager

Chance ThortonChance Thornton has joined Jacksonville-based Austin Bank as assistant vice president and relationship manager in the Lufkin office.

“Chance is a skilled banker with a strong commitment to the East Texas area,” says Jeff Austin III, chairman. “His experience and leadership will help to serve our Lufkin customers and the Austin Bank team.”

With more than seven years of experience in the financial services industry, Thornton comes to Austin Bank from Citizens State Bank where he served as assistant vice president and loan officer while also overseeing branch management. Prior to Citizens State Bank, he worked in the oil and gas industry for Halliburton and has experience as a field engineer and in drilling operations.

“With his experience and strong desire to be involved in our community, we feel Chance will be an outstanding leader for us as we focus on increasing market share in Lufkin and the East Texas area,” adds Francis Spruiell, regional president.

Thornton is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a degree in banking and finance. He is an active member of the community, currently serving as a board member for Tri-Cities Youth Sports, Lions Club member and Texas Farm Bureau member.

Established in 1900, Austin Bank operates 36 East Texas locations within 26 cities and 14 counties. It is locally owned and operated by the Austin Family, which is celebrating 113 years of service in the Texas banking industry.
