American National Bank of Texas Promotes White to Chief Strategy Officer as Expansion Continues

January 1, 2026

Steve WhiteTerrell-based American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX) has promoted Steve White to chief strategy officer. The promotion recognizes his two decades of banking leadership with ANBTX and comes as the bank celebrates its 150th year of serving North Texas.

A sixth-generation banker, White joined ANBTX in 2006, serving as the banking center president of the bank’s Dallas location. He was then promoted to lead the bank’s commercial banking team. Prior to joining ANBTX, he spent six years in the securities industry as a vice president with Citigroup Inc. and Merrill Lynch & Co., for which he catered to middle-market institutions such as hedge funds, registered investment advisers, banks and family offices.

In this new capacity, White will continue to oversee the bank’s commercial banking division, which includes more than 40 commercial and community bankers. In addition, he will play a key role in developing and implementing the bank’s five-year strategic plan, which is designed to deepen ANBTX’s presence in the Dallas market and broader North Texas region.

“Steve has a deep understanding of our customers, culture, employees and our communities,” says Robert Hulsey, president and CEO. “And as part of the family that started this bank generations ago, his leadership will ensure that our team is positioned for sustainable, relationship-driven growth for years to come.”

Additionally, as chief strategy officer, White will lead the bank’s diversification of its commercial banking services to include more commercial and industrial lending capabilities to supplement its historically strong real estate lending model and balance the bank’s portfolio with more small- to medium-sized business relationships. To support these diversification efforts, the bank plans to grow its commercial banking teams in both the Dallas and Frisco markets.

“I’m incredibly proud to continue my family’s legacy and be a part of steering ANBTX through this exciting next chapter and ensuring we continue serving as the independent bank our customers trust,” White says.

White holds a BBA degree in finance from the University of Texas–Austin. He is also a graduate of the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. White is involved in the North Texas community as a member of The Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Mercy Street Dallas, Momentous Institute Reading Buddies and Stemmons Corridor Business Association.

Established in 1875, American National Bank of Texas has more than 30 locations throughout North Texas, serving Collin, Dallas, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall, Tarrant and Van Zandt counties.
