American Bank Names Bexley Vice Chairman in San Antonio

November 18, 2022

Byron BexleyOn November 8, Corpus Christi-based American Bank announced that Byron Bexley has joined the team as vice chairman/San Antonio. In his role as market leader, he will oversee commercial banking activities in San Antonio.

Bexley brings more than 40 years of banking experience, most recently serving as chairman and chief executive officer of TexStar National Bank, which has several locations in the San Antonio area. TexStar was recently acquired by American Bank.

“Having the opportunity to become part of American Bank and join an organization with a passion for client service at every level is great for our employees and clients,” Bexley says of the acquisition. “In American Bank, we found a partner with a strong heritage as a Texas-based community bank. We felt a strong sense of alignment in cultures given American Bank’s mission, values, history of community involvement and sincere interest in the well-being of its employees.”

Throughout his career, Bexley has worked in a variety of senior-level roles with financial institutions across the state, but he calls San Antonio home. He earned his BBA degree from Baylor University and his MBA degree from Sam Houston State University.
