Eric Swenson, chairman of the board of Spur Security Bank in Spur, retired in March after 52 years serving the bank. He joined the bank in 1969 as a director and became part of active management as a vice president in 1972. During his tenure, he also served as executive vice president and president of the bank. Swenson and his wife, Linda, acquired controlling interest in the bank in 2000 and he has served as chairman of the board since that time. Swenson has also served as chairman of Jayton-based Kent County State Bank, as well as a director of Sudan National Bank in Sudan and Hart State Bank in Hart. He also served on the board of directors of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas for many years.
Swenson is a 1965 graduate of Abilene Christian College and a 1968 graduate of the law school at Southern Methodist University. He has been a member of the Texas Bar Association for more than 50 years. He is involved in numerous local civic endeavors and will continue in those roles.
“This has been an incredible journey,” Swenson says. “After 52 years in the banking industry, I think the most important thing you can do for your bank and for yourself personally is to form long-lasting relationships.”
Spur Security Bank was established in 1933.
