Waco’s American Bank President and CEO Hicks Retires

July 13, 2023

“DavidOn July 14, David “Bubba” Hicks retired from Waco-based American Bank. He joined the bank in 2007 as senior executive vice president and was promoted to president and CEO in 2009. According to the bank’s Facebook page, “Hicks ‘semi-retired’ as president in 2018 and has since focused his time loaning money to some of his longtime customers, and also giving advice where it was wanted and (in some cases) unwanted.” Hicks will continue to serve on the bank’s board of directors.

Through the years, he has been active in the community serving on numerous boards, including the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Community Cancer Association, Baylor Alumni Association, Baylor Fastbreak Club, Baylor Softball Diamond Club and Combat Marine Outdoors. He was the initial organizer and president of the Central Texas chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association.

Established in 1952, American Bank operates three locations in the Waco area.
