Henderson-based VeraBank has named Tamara Byrdsong its 2024 “Nelwyn Richardson Employee of the Year” recipient. Byrdsong joined the bank in 2013 and serves as retail branch administrator. Earlier in her tenure at VeraBank, she served as branch manager for the Longview 4th St. and Lakeport locations.
The Nelwyn Richardson Employee of the Year award highlights an employee’s exceptional performance and significant contributions to VeraBank’s success over the past year. To be considered for the award, employees had to have been a VeraBank Employee of the Month honoree within the respective year.
“Tamara has been an integral part of our team for more than 12 years, and her experience with our bank has positioned her as an exceptional decision-maker and leader—both attributes of which have enabled her to push herself and her colleagues,” says Woodie Tipps, senior executive vice president/chief retail banking officer. “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.”
“Our bank thrives because of leaders like Tamara, who bring expertise and ingenuity to the forefront,” adds Brad Tidwell, CEO.
Some of Byrdsong’s closest peers also commented about working alongside her at VeraBank:
- “Tamara’s ability to balance directness with compassion and her tremendous amount of banking knowledge are just a couple of her excellent qualities that make her a true asset to our team.”
- “Tamara is always positive and encourages her employees to bond and make connections with each other. She is a wonderful role model for everyone and truly embodies the spirit of excellence.”
