Texas Regional Bank Welcomes Richards as Executive Vice President and Ag Lending Specialist

March 13, 2025

Travis RichardsHarlingen-based Texas Regional Bank has announced the addition of Travis Richards as executive vice president and ag lending specialist, based at the bank’s Edinburg Jackson location. With more than 30 years of experience in commercial lending and banking, Richards specializes in agribusiness, farm lending and government-backed loan programs.

Richards most recently served as regional president for Capital Farm Credit, overseeing lending operations across 26 counties in South Texas with substantial loan volume. Throughout his career, he has structured financing solutions for agricultural producers, ranchers and agribusiness owners. His leadership in portfolio management, risk analysis and strategic business development has been instrumental in supporting rural and agricultural economies.

“It’s great to be back in banking—this time with a full-service financial institution that can offer clients more than just lending,” Richards says.

A U.S. Army veteran and retired colonel, Richards served 30 years in the military, including a deployment to Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He holds a BS degree in agriculture economics from Texas A&M University and an MBA degree in finance from St. Mary’s University. Active in community organizations, he has served on numerous boards supporting economic development and financial education.

“Travis brings an impressive depth of knowledge and leadership to our lending team,” says Michael Lamon, president of bank administration. “His expertise in commercial and agricultural finance, combined with his long-standing commitment to the region, makes him a perfect fit for Texas Regional Bank. As we continue expanding our services in agribusiness and farm lending, Travis’ experience will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”

Established in 2010, Texas Regional Bank has more than 30 banking centers across the Rio Grande Valley, Texas Hill Country, Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
