Spiller Retires from Junction National Bank

April 28, 2021

Rob Roy SpillerAfter 50 years of extraordinary service and dedication to Junction National Bank and its customers, former bank president Rob Roy Spiller retired on April 1. He will maintain his position as chairman of the board.

Spiller was raised on the family ranch near Junction in Kimble County, a ranch he now owns and operates. A few years after graduating from Texas A&M University and marrying Barbara Lee Cunningham, he ventured to Amarillo and then Lubbock, where he worked for Prudential Insurance Co. in its mortgage loan department. In 1971, Spiller and his wife returned to Junction at the request of his father-in-law, Jordan Cunningham, then-chairman of Junction National Bank. Spiller launched his banking career there and, in 1981, was named the bank’s president. He went on to assume the chairman’s role in 1991 upon his father-in-law’s passing. In 2010, Spiller stepped down as president and CEO, and Darla Rooke was promoted to succeed him, roles in which she continues to serve.

Spiller says what he liked most about his banking career was helping people and supporting the community. He continues to be actively involved in the Junction community.
