Dallas-based PlainsCapital Bank recently expanded its commercial banking team in Austin with the addition of Laura Kane and Rodney Thompson as senior vice presidents of commercial lending and Carly McCollum as commercial loan officer. Kane and McCollum will serve clients from PlainsCapital Bank’s downtown Austin office while Thompson will work from its Westlake branch.
Kane has nearly 25 years of commercial banking experience, primarily in the Austin area. She previously served for 10 years as vice president and Austin market leader at Crockett National Bank’s real estate and banking group. She has extensive commercial banking experience in a broad range of sectors, including owner-occupied and investment real estate, construction, industrial, wholesale, land acquisition, recreational land purchases and nonprofits. Kane received her bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in Spanish from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
Thompson has 25 years of financial services experience, including 20 in commercial banking. Most recently, Thompson served as senior vice president at BBVA where he developed relationships between the bank and corporate clients. During his time there, he served clients with annual revenues ranging from $10 million to $500 million. Thompson received a BBA degree from Sam Houston State University and an MBA degree with a concentration in finance from Texas A&M University.
McCollum has more than two years of experience in commercial lending and banking. She served as an associate relationship manager at Frost Bank in Dallas before joining PlainsCapital Bank in Austin, her hometown. McCollum received her BBA degree in finance from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
“We’re excited to welcome Laura, Rodney and Carly to our Austin lending team—one of our core markets—where they will be instrumental in meeting the lending and banking needs of Texas’ small to mid-size businesses,” says Paul Holubec, Austin region chairman. “Our new lenders’ experience will broaden the spectrum of partners we can serve within the region while strengthening our position as a leading Texas-based bank.”
“The nature of the lending market requires professionals who are capable of serving a wide range of industries,” says Steve Hambrick, Texas region chairman. “Laura, Rodney and Carly understand what it means to provide exemplary service and well-suited products to business owners, which makes them a good fit for our talented Austin lending group.”
