Dallas-based PlainsCapital Bank recently announced a series of senior-level leadership promotions across its Dallas, Austin and Lubbock markets.
John Owens has transitioned from West Texas region chairman to chairman emeritus. He co-founded PlainsCapital Bank in 1988 and has more than four decades of banking experience in the Lubbock area. He received a BBA degree and master’s degree from Texas Tech University. Owens serves as a member of PlainsCapital Bank’s board of directors and is chairman of the bank’s West Texas advisory board. He is also a member of the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
Barry Ballinger has been promoted from Lubbock market president to West Texas region chairman, succeeding John Owens. Ballinger began his career in banking and commercial lending 43 years ago at Plains National Bank, now PlainsCapital Bank. He received a BBA degree from Texas Tech University and is a graduate of the Texas Tech Rawls College Business School of Banking and Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Ballinger currently serves as a member of the PlainsCapital Bank Lubbock advisory board.
Michael Rowton has been promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president in the bank’s loan review department in Dallas. He has been with PlainsCapital Bank for 15 years and has a total of 18 years of financial services experience. Rowton received a BBA degree in general business and an MBA degree in management from Texas Tech University. He is also a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Andrew Cunningham has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president in the private bank of PlainsCapital’s Lubbock office on University Ave. He has 15 years of financial services experience, including five years at PlainsCapital Bank. Cunningham received a BBA degree in management information systems from Baylor University and an MBA degree with a concentration in finance from Texas Tech University. He is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and a chartered financial consultant (ChFC).
Mark Rosenberg has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president of PlainsCapital Bank’s Lubbock commercial lending team on University Ave. He joined PlainsCapital Bank in 2016 and has more than 10 total years of banking experience. Rosenberg received a degree from the University of Texas–Dallas and is a graduate of the Texas Tech Rawls College Business School of Banking.
Hill Shands has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president in the bank’s downtown Austin lending group. He has 15 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, all of which have been with PlainsCapital Bank. He joined the bank’s commercial lending team in 2006 shortly after graduating from the University of Mississippi where he earned a BBA degree.
Danielle Brewster has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president in the private bank of PlainsCapital’s Lubbock office on University Ave. She has more than 25 years of financial services experience, including 22 years in wealth management and trust services at PlainsCapital Bank. Brewster received a BBA degree in finance from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust Schools I and II.
Stephanie Hermez has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president in PlainsCapital Bank’s Dallas Hillcrest banking group. She has 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, including eight in wealth management and trust. Prior to joining PlainsCapital’s private bank in 2017, she served as a trust administrator at Tolleson Wealth Management. Hermez received a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in business administration from the University of South Florida.
