President/Chief Executive Officer

Job summary: The president/CEO of The Bankers Bank (TBB) is responsible for establishing major goals and objectives for TBB, the holding company and subsidiaries, subject to approval by the board of directors. The president/CEO provides leadership, direction and guidance of holding company and subsidiaries activities in achieving goals and objectives. Represents the company to regulatory agencies, trade associations, community and civic organizations, customers and other financial institutions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating all bank activities to ensure the bank effectively meets its goals and objectives, both in the short and long term.
  • Formulating and administering bank-wide policies and procedures, subject only to board approval, intended to meet the goals and objectives of the bank.
  • Serving as a member of the board and ensuring that all orders, policies and resolutions of the board are adhered to; is responsible for reporting to the board on the overall financial and operational conditions of the bank.
  • Conducting a personal, top-level marketing/sales campaign to establish, maintain and solidify correspondent bank and corporate customer business relationships.
  • Providing direct guidance of personnel activities that affect the key bank management team, including salary administration, management incentives, and department and performance objectives, to ensure solid team efforts toward the attainment of department and bank goals.
  • Representing the bank and provides leadership in key community activities, including business, charitable, civic and social organizations, to maintain a proper responsible citizen stature for the organization.
  • Managing subordinate supervisors who supervise employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Also, directly supervise nonsupervisory employees.
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum skills:

  • Knowledge of the operations and lending focuses of the bank.
  • Lending experience, including knowledge of lending criteria, to participate in the decision process of the loan committee.
  • Analytical—the individual synthesizes complex or diverse information.
  • Problem-solving—the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Oral communication—the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and participates in meetings.
  • Delegation—the individual delegates work assignments, gives authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.
  • Leadership—the individual inspires and motivates others to perform well, accepts feedback from others.
  • Managing people—the individual includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement, makes himself available to staff, provides regular performance feedback, and develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.
  • Quality management—the individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Judgment—the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
  • Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.

Minimum education:

  • Four-year degree in finance, accounting or business-related area and at least 10 years’ experience in a bank/financial or regulatory setting.
  • Familiar with banking regulatory issues and requirements.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of computer software.
  • Ability to project a positive, professional work ethic and image; use tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers and co-workers.

Minimum experience:

  • 10 or more years of banking experience in either lending, operations or management required.
