Controller | Capital Bank | Houston, Texas

General Position Objectives

The Controller is responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining the Bank’s financial reporting processes utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  • Adhering to Bank policy and procedures, regulatory and tax laws to properly reflect the financial position of the Bank;
  • Ensuring department activities run smoothly and efficiently;
  • Providing leadership, training and supervision within the department; and
  • Providing a high level of stakeholder relations and service.

The position of Controller assists in:

  • Attaining established Bank and department goals; and
  • Performing supervisory duties of department staff and managerial duties in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:   

Areas of oversight and responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • General Ledger
  • Reconciliations
  • Financial and Regulatory Reporting
  • Accounts Payable

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5 years of Banking or Financial Institution experience or 15 years of progressive accounting experience with a Bank or Financial Institution; CPA preferred, not required.
