Clarke Promoted to Chief Financial Officer at PlainsCapital Bank

Walter ClarkeWalter Clarke has been named chief financial officer at Dallas-based PlainsCapital Bank.

Clarke brings 19 years of finance, accounting, strategy and operations experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as director of corporate financial planning at Hilltop Holdings, PlainsCapital Bank’s parent company, from 2017 to 2024.

Prior to joining Hilltop, Clarke served as a director at PwC from 2015 to 2017. He also served in various finance roles within GE Capital’s equipment and transportation finance businesses from 2010 to 2015.

Clarke earned his BBA degree from Texas Tech University and an MBA degree in finance from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He is also a licensed RoboFinance process advisor from Redwood Software. Active in his community, Clarke has volunteered for more than a decade with The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Established in 1955, PlainsCapital Bank operates 57 Texas branches in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio.
