Citizens National Bank at Brownwood Taps Johnson as President, Announces Additional Promotions

J.D. JohnsonThe board of directors of Citizens National Bank at Brownwood has announced the appointment of J.D. Johnson as bank president. John P. Guest, who served as president and chief executive officer, will continue to serve as CEO.

Johnson brings more than 12 years of commercial banking experience across several markets in Central Texas. He previously served as community bank president for BancorpSouth Bank in Falls County. Prior to his banking career, he played professional baseball. After one year of junior college baseball, Johnson signed with the Chicago White Sox and played for three years in its minor league system. He went on to earn his BS degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and is a graduate of Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Johnson has served on several boards throughout his banking career, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Falls County Boys and Girls Club, and the board of governors for the Association of the U.S. Army–Central Texas/Fort Hood chapter.

The board at Citizens National Bank also announced several additional promotions on the team.

Sheila King, supervisor of the bookkeeping department, has been promoted to assistant vice president. She began her career with Citizens National Bank in 1997 in the data processing department. She was promoted to bank officer, manager of data processing and computer operations, then assistant cashier and now assistant vice president and manager of bookkeeping.

Nancy Price, supervisor of the note department, has been promoted to assistant vice president. She has 43 years of experience in lending, having started her banking career while still in high school. She joined Citizens National Bank in 1990 as a loan processor. Price was promoted to bank officer, then assistant cashier and now assistant vice president and manager of the note department. She has served on the board of directors for Brown County Fair Association, Brown County United Way, Brownwood Community Cultural Affairs Commission and Hochheim Prairie Insurance.

Brenda Vernon, supervisor of the new accounts department, has also been promoted to assistant vice president. She has 37 years of consumer banking experience as a teller, customer service representative, new accounts manager and assistant branch manager. She joined Citizens National Bank in 2006 as a new accounts representative. Vernon was promoted to bank officer, then assistant cashier and now assistant vice president and manager of new accounts. She served on the board of directors for Family Life Resources.

Amy Villarreal has been promoted to bank officer, manager of the drive-in bank. She earned a BBA degree in management from Howard Payne University. While she was a student at Howard Payne University, she worked as a teller at the Citizens National Bank drive-in bank for two years. She left the bank upon graduation and returned two years later, working in bookkeeping/customer service, then was promoted to loan assistant and now she is an officer and manager of the drive-in bank. Villarreal is in the Brown County Young Professionals program.

The bank’s roots go all the way back to 1883 and the mercantile store Coggin Brothers and Ford Bank, which was chartered as Citizens National Bank in 1934.
