Banking Veteran Shelton Named President of Banking at Oklahoma-based First United Bank

Wes SheltonDurant, Oklahoma-based First United Bank has promoted Wes Shelton to president of banking, recognizing his four decades of industry expertise and leadership. In this expanded role, Shelton will oversee bank system operations and lead First United Bank’s Centers of Excellence, credit committee and special-assets team.

“Wes has been a cornerstone of our banking operations, bringing a depth of experience and strategic leadership that has strengthened First United’s foundation,” says Greg Massey, CEO. “His vision and expertise will drive continued innovation, enhance customer relationships and ensure the long-term success of our bank and the communities we serve.”

With 40 years of experience, Shelton has established himself as a leader in banking, credit management and lending strategies. His expertise spans both the banking and nonprofit sectors. Before he was appointed president of banking, he served as chief banking officer, playing a pivotal role in leading growth initiatives across lending and retail banking. His leadership experience also includes serving as president and CEO of American Bank of Texas and as Grayson County executive vice president and senior credit officer for Bank One, for which he spearheaded strategic financial initiatives and strengthened credit operations.

Established in 1900, First United Bank has more than 95 bank, mortgage and insurance locations across Oklahoma and Texas.
