On January 5, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma-based The Bankers Bank, a correspondent bank serving community banks in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico, announced the promotion of Troy Appling to president and CEO. He will provide leadership, direction and guidance of the holding company and subsidiaries in achieving their goals and objectives. The Bankers Bank conducted a thorough national search for a new president and CEO over a 10-week period, receiving more than 140 applications. While there were a number of impressive candidates, the board determined that Appling’s skills and experience make him the best candidate for the position.
“Troy has been a key part of our successful business development department for more than 25 years and we are thrilled to promote him to this important position,” says Herschel Brewster, chairman of the board. “We look forward to his leadership in implementing our corporate strategy as we continue to be an innovator in the evolving business of correspondent banking.”
Appling joined The Bankers Bank in 1994 as a correspondent banking officer and quickly rose to become executive vice president and head of the business development department. Prior to that, he held positions at First State Bank in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, and Sooner State Bank in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After graduating from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado in 2003, Appling served a 15-year term on the board of directors. He has served on various other boards, including the Oklahoma Bankers Association.
Established in 1986, The Bankers Bank boasts a unique ownership of more than 100 community banks with no majority shareholders.
