Moulton-based SouthStar Bank has promoted Curtis Wren to executive vice president/chief credit officer, having previously served as senior vice president/chief credit officer. He is responsible for the credit administration group and administration and maintenance of the bank’s lending, appraisal and evaluation, and environmental policies, as well as the adherence to them in analyzing, underwriting and approving loans. He has been a part of the SouthStar bank team for eight years.
Prior to joining SouthStar Bank, Wren served as executive vice president/chief credit officer at Omnibank from 2007 to 2014. He holds a BBA degree in finance with honors from the University of Texas–Austin. A proud member of the Georgetown community, Wren is involved with several local organizations, including Main Street Baptist Church, Ducks Unlimited and the Coastal Conservation Association. He has also held leadership positions with the Georgetown Rotary Club, including as director and sergeant-at-arms. In 2021, he received SouthStar Bank’s President’s Award, which is bestowed to the individual who has made the organization’s strongest contribution over the past year.
“I don’t look at lending just from the viewpoint of the collateral and cash flow,” Wren says, “I look at lending in the context of the request and as making a smart investment in the people behind the request, and I will continue to share that philosophy.”
Established in 1920, SouthStar Bank SSB specializes in residential mortgage, real estate and construction lending, operating 16 full-service branches across the Central Texas region.
