VeraBank Named 2025 Hispanic Business Alliance Community Organization of the Year

December 10, 2025

Henderson-based VeraBank has been named the 2025 “Hispanic Business Alliance (HBA) Community Organization of the Year” for its commitment to fostering opportunity through meaningful initiatives. The award recognizes the bank’s impactful partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas to facilitate the “Consulado sobre ruedas” (Consulate on Wheels) program.

Consulado sobre ruedas brings essential services directly to Hispanics in East Texas counties. VeraBank sponsors event locations in Tyler, Longview, Athens, Marshall, Henderson, Palestine, Mt. Pleasant and Corsicana, making it easier for residents to access important documentation. Through the “Consulado sobre ruedas” events, Hispanic families can obtain passports, consular registrations (Matrícula Consular) and voter ID cards. These credentials are key to accessing essential services, opening bank accounts and achieving greater stability. Each event serves approximately 150 to 200 people daily over five days, demonstrating the significant need for these services. Bank employees are on hand to answer questions and share information about VeraBank’s products and services.

VeraBank’s support extends beyond financial sponsorship. The bank funds event venues, provides bilingual staff for assistance and offers technical support. While attendees wait for their appointments, VeraBank presents valuable financial literacy information on topics like building credit and preventing fraud. These sessions provide resources to empower individuals and help set them up for success.

“It’s a privilege to work side by side with our community and the Consulate General of Mexico to help families access the resources they need,” says Jesus Vera, senior vice president/commercial banker and VeraBank’s leader of this initiative. “We are deeply honored to receive this recognition and share it with our community partners, supporters and the families we serve.”

The bank’s Front St. branch in Tyler, which opened in 2013, further exemplifies VeraBank’s mission with a dedicated team of ten bilingual employees serving the community daily.

Established in 1930, VeraBank serves 20 counties in East, Central and Southeast Texas with 41 branches.
