Texas Capital Bank Appoints Storms Chief Risk Officer, Jurecka Chief Human Resources Officer

Tim StormsOn February 26, Dallas-based Texas Capital Bank and its parent company, Texas Capital Bancshares, announced that Tim Storms has been named chief risk officer of both companies. Storms replaces John Turpen, who will continue with the company until March 31 to ensure an effective transition. Storms will report directly to Rob Holmes, president and CEO of Texas Capital Bank and Texas Capital Bancshares.

As recently reported in Bankers Digest, Storms joined Texas Capital Bank in January as executive vice president/head of risk transformation. Since that time, he has been working closely with Turpen and the risk management team to immerse himself in the organization and its approach to risk management. Prior to joining Texas Capital Bank, Storms served as chief risk officer of the commercial banking’s real estate businesses at JPMorgan Chase.

As chief risk officer, Storms will manage all risk functions, enterprise risk management practices and programs, and regulatory compliance. He will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of continued enhancements to the company’s risk management culture and capabilities that will further optimize proactive risk assessment and mitigation. As chair of the executive risk committee, Storms will oversee the risk management framework and the bank’s risk appetite statements.

Shannon JureckaTexas Capital Bank also announced the appointment of Shannon Jurecka to the newly created position of chief human resources officer, effective April 1. Jurecka will advance the company’s commitment to developing world-class talent and a high-performance culture and will also report to Holmes.

Prior to joining Texas Capital Bank, Jurecka served at Celanese Corp. as senior vice president/ chief human resources officer. Prior to that, she was the company’s vice president of human resources for material solutions and human resources leader for mergers and acquisitions. Jurecka also spent 10 years earlier in her career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a human resources executive. She began her career in human resources at Dell, at which she was a mechanical engineering project manager and in learning and leadership development.

Jurecka received a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership and ethics from St. Edward’s University. She also holds a secondary education teaching certificate in the state of Texas. Jurecka is a board member for City Year Dallas and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity, her church and other local charities.

“Tim is a world-class risk executive, having managed businesses through some of the most challenging market environments on a complex global platform,” Holmes says. “[Jurecka’s] vast experience with diversity, equity and inclusion efforts—as well as her previous work with environmental, social and corporate governance—is a wonderful addition that will help us accelerate our advancements in these areas.”

Established in 1997, Texas Capital Bank operates 11 locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio regions.
