State Bank of Texas Hires Butler as Senior Vice President of Lending

September 10, 2020

Melissa ButlerMelissa Butler has joined Dallas-based State Bank of Texas as senior vice president of lending. She has more than 20 years of experience as a senior lender and business development professional, most recently with PMC Commercial Trust, where she developed extensive expertise with SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 loans concentrated in the hospitality sector. This expertise will allow State Bank of Texas to expand its SBA loan offerings. In addition, Butler has cultivated a nationwide pipeline in the hospitality industry that can be served with a full array of conventional loans offered by the bank. She attended the University of North Texas, studying business management.

“As we continue to grow our core business of lending in the hospitality industry, Melissa’s experience with nationwide lending in this industry will further strengthen our footprint across the country,” says Sushil Patel, president.

Established in 1987 by Chan Patel, State Bank of Texas continues to be owned and operated by the Patel family, with Chan (father) serving as CEO, Sushil (son) as president and Rajan Patel (son) as executive vice president/chief lending officer. As the largest Indian-American-owned bank in the U.S., the bank focuses heavily on lending within the hospitality industry and currently has a $737 million lending portfolio that includes properties in 30 states nationwide.
